Verdict

Water-soluble, stable vitamin C derivative with antioxidant and brightening activity. Hydrolysed to endogenous ascorbic acid with excellent safety profile. Tyrosinase inhibition is moderate compared to MAP or ascorbyl glucoside. Primary value is antioxidant protection and as a brightening complement in multi-active formulations. Useful supporting brightening ingredient rather than a primary active; combine with stronger actives for meaningful clinical impact.

US Note

No FDA restriction. Widely used in antioxidant and brightening formulations without concentration limit.
