Fragrance; Antimicrobial; Antioxidant; Skin conditioning. Cold-pressed essential oil obtained from the peel of grapefruit, Citrus paradisi. Dominated by d-limonene (>90%), with trace amounts of linalool, beta-pinene, and myrcene. Natural antimicrobial and antioxidant with a bright citrus fragrance profile. Used across a wide range of rinse-off and leave-on cosmetics. CIR Expert Panel concluded citrus-derived peel oils are safe for cosmetic use when formulated to be non-sensitizing and non-irritating and when leave-on products contain no more than 0.0015% (15 ppm) 5-methoxypsoralen (5-MOP). Furanocoumarin-free (FCF) variants are widely available and preferred for leave-on daytime formulations.
