Skin conditioning; Masking. Aqueous solution of the steam distillate obtained from the fruit or peel of the lemon, Citrus limon. Contains water-soluble aromatic volatile components derived from the lemon, imparting a fresh citrus character. Used as a skin conditioning and masking agent. Present in approximately 0.08–0.09% of cosmetic products; highest concentration of 1.11% reported in hair coloring products. Provides a mild toning effect and delivers a natural lemon fragrance profile.
