Purpose

Function

Colorant. Finely ground metallic aluminium powder; also known as Aluminum Powder, Pigment Metal 1, and food colorant E173. Imparts silver-metallic shimmer and reflective effect to cosmetic products. Used in nail polish, eyeshadow, and body glitter formulations. Insoluble inorganic metallic pigment. Listed in EU Annex IV. FDA permits in externally applied cosmetics including eye area but NOT on lips. Purity criteria per Commission Directive 95/45/EC (E173).
