Triterpene-rich extract (madecassoside, asiaticoside) that stimulates fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis. Double-blind study of 80 pregnant women demonstrated significantly fewer new stretch marks versus placebo, with strongest effects in women with pre-existing puberty striae. Among the best-evidenced topical ingredients for striae rubrae prevention. Well-tolerated with rare sensitization in individuals with Compositae allergy.
CIR Expert Panel assessed 9 Centella asiatica-derived ingredients — all concluded safe in present practices of use and concentration, provided formulations are non-sensitizing. Cosmetic ingredient positioned as cosmetic/dermocosmetic in EU under Regulation (EC) 655/2013. Clinical data from 2024 two-center RCT confirms Centella asiatica repairing masks effective and safe as adjunctive rosacea treatment — supports cosmetic efficacy claims without drug classification.
