One of the most thoroughly substantiated postbiotics in commercial cosmetics with upregulation of five structural barrier genes (FLG, LOR, IVL, TGM1, AQP3) and antimicrobial peptide genes, full antioxidant panel activity, and 18-22% TEWL reduction clinically; demonstrates in vitro UVB protection equivalent to SPF 4-5 and anti-dandruff efficacy via barrier improvement and Malassezia immune modulation.
Permitted as cosmetic ingredient; no specific FDA restrictions. UVB protection SPF 4-5 (below US SPF 2+ labeling minimum — cannot make sunscreen claims). Disease claims (eczema, dandruff treatment) = drug. MoCRA 2026 compliance required.
