No dedicated SCCS opinion. US: GRAS under 21 CFR 182.20 and 182.10. CIR Panel (June 2022) concluded safe in cosmetics at present use concentrations when formulated to be non-sensitizing.

US Note

GRAS as essential oil, oleoresin, and natural extractive under 21 CFR 182.20 and 182.10. Sage oil ruled inadequate for OTC astringent GRASE (21 CFR 310.545). No cosmetic restrictions. CIR concluded safe when formulated to be non-sensitizing (Final Report 2022). Max reported use in US VCRP: 0.38% in skin care (213 formulations).
