Alpinia Zerumbet Leaf Extract

A plant extract from the leaves of Alpinia zerumbet (shell ginger, Zingiberaceae family), used primarily for antimicrobial, antioxidant, and sebum-regulating properties. Rich in flavonoids (kaempferol, quercetin, pinocembrin), polyphenols, and essential oil components (1,8-cineole, terpinen-4-ol). Not listed in EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II or Annex III. Not prohibited by FDA for cosmetic use. Oral toxicology of hydroalcoholic extract shows LD50 ~10 g/kg in mice; topical cosmetic use at typical concentrations poses negligible systemic risk. Well tolerated on most skin types including sensitive; patch testing advisable for Zingiberaceae-sensitive individuals.
